THEA - (Texas Higher Education Assessment) The Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA) is a computer-based exam that assesses the reading, mathematics, and writing skills that entering freshman-level students should have if they are to perform effectively in undergraduate certificate or degree programs in Texas public colleges or universities. It was developed by Evaluation Systems Pearson®, through a rigorous review and approval process supported by skilled and experienced Texas educators. Students in an Educator Certification Program at Texas A&M University-Commerce that do not have SAT/ACT scores to exempt them from the THEA (see the per the ) are required to take ONLY the Reading Section of the THEA exam. THEA Test Dates and Fees: All testing appointments must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance of your desired testing date and time. We cannot accommodate same-day testers or walk-ins.

THEA exams are offered by appointment only during regular office hours. The THEA costs $50 payable to Texas A&M University-Commerce through our website.
